Rise

Tehran-born Sohrab brings a unique mix of influences to the new outing on Iran-based label Shahr Farang. Vocals in Persian and melodies associated with East Asian styles all colour his take on deep techno. 'Santouri (Sange Sabour)' kicks off with a throbbing rhythm and exotic strings that intertwine up top with wirey electronics. It's an intoxicating collision of cultures that also comes as a more direct instrumental. On the flip, 'Rise' is a jacked analogue workout with punchy kick and spangled bass locked in a wrestle as swung percussion and rattling chords all beef things up further.
