Fronted by former South London lovers rock vocal harmonygroup, Alpha (sisters Jackie & Jean Heron and MarleneRichardson), Take Three was the brain-child ofwriter/producer trio "S.H.E." - Steve Sinclair, Peter Hinds &Kevin Ellis.
Meeting each other at The Factory community centre inPaddington, Steve & Kevin began a partnership writing anddirecting their own theatre productions as part of The BlackTheatre Co-Op, which called the centre home at the time.When a song they had written together for one of theirproductions received praise and plaudits, the path towardwriting and producing records began, bringing in moreseasoned hand Peter Hinds - formerly a member of key britfunk groups Light of the World and Beggar & Co, and a playerwith Incognito, Imagination & Loose Ends - to complete thecircle.
The Tonight's the Night 12" was pressed up on their ownlabel Fast Forward with distribution provided by AndySojka's Blackmarketing, and would be the first commercialouting for a creative partnership that would spawn multipleprojects/aliases spanning the UK soul, funk & dancescenes, and still continues to this day.
